The reconnaissance aircraft of the US Navy Poseidon was not far from Hmeimim at the moment of the drone attack on Russian military facilities. This was reported in the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“It’s a strange coincidence that during the terrorist attack on Russian military facilities in Syria, for more than seven hours over the Mediterranean Sea at an altitude of seven thousand meters, a reconnaissance aircraft of the US Navy was barraging between Tartus and Hmeimim,” the agency said.
Militants attacked the Russian Hmeimim air base on January 6. The Russian military managed to intercept the control of six drones, another seven were shot down by the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system.
