Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to carry out the biggest Cabinet reshuffle with a number of new faces expected to join her team.
According to The Telegraph, May is expected to appoint a ‘no deal Brexit’ minister. The person given the job at the Department for Exiting the European Union (DExEU) is expected to attend Cabinet and control a significant budget but will not be a secretary of state.
The reshuffle, which will continue into tomorrow, is being seen as an opportunity for May to promote more women, with female ministers only currently making up six of the 23 full members of her top team.
Media sources suggest that all the most senior ministers are expected to remain in their posts, including Chancellor Philip Hammond and the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.
No 10 has described reports Education Secretary Justine Greening and Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt will be among those moved as “all guesswork”, states BBC.
There are also increasing reports of May replacing Damian Green, who was sacked as the Cabinet Office minister and de facto Prime Minister last month for misleading statements over pornography found on his office computer.
