Iran crushed terrorist cell, pursuing the goal of creating disorders

Iranian intelligence ministry announced on Thursday that a terrorist cell aimed at provoking more riots in Iran was crushed and its members arrested after a clash with security forces.

“An armed terrorist cell that planned to launch explosions and kill innocent people to support recent unrest, infiltrated into the country”, the ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, in the clash with the Iranian security forces in the north-western city of Piranshahr in the province of Western Azerbaijan the terrorists killed 3 law enforcers.

One terrorist was also killed, and some other members of the group were injured in a clash, the ministry states.

According to the data, weapons, including Kalashnikov assault rifles, grenades, military uniforms and instructions for the initiation of unrest were confiscated during the operation.

The statement says that 3 other terrorist cells were previously identified in western Iran and crushed.
