UN: US vetoes resolution against recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

The United States Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley vetoed a resolution drawn up against recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in New York City on Monday.

Before the vote, Haley stated, “The US has an undiminished commitment to help bring about final status negotiations that will lead to lasting peace, our hand remains extended to both parties.”

The other 14 members of the Security Council members voted in favour of the resolution proposed, however, as a permanent member the US’s veto was successful.
