Serbian president’s visit to Moscow: Pressure from West’s side, military-technical cooperation on the agenda

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić today arrived in Moscow, where during a three-day visit he will hold a series of meetings with representatives of the Russian leadership, including his counterpart Vladimir Putin. According to the Serbian media, the key issues of the talks will be the pressure of the West on Serbia on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, relations with the Republika Srpska, and, of course, cooperation with Russia, mainly military-technical.

After receiving six MiG-29 planes, Belgrade is interested in acquiring Russian air defense systems, Buk M2 and Pantsir, Belgrade’s Vecherniye Novosti writes in the material with the announcement of the forthcoming visit. Also energy cooperation, specifically, the Turkish Stream project is on the agenda.

“I will have a big and important meeting with Putin, and I hope there will be good news for Serbia,” Vučić said on Sunday.

He will also meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Vice-President Dmitry Rogozin. He will visit the Science and Technology Park and give the order, by which his predecessor, Tomislav Nikolic, posthumously awarded the representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vitaly Churkin for protecting the interests of Serbia in this organization.
