Recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the US can lead to the severance of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Israel, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday.
Earlier, a representative of the White House said that in the coming days the United States will announce whether Jerusalem recognizes the capital of Israel. The Palestinian side, as well as a number of countries in the Middle East, have already stated that the recognition of Jerusalem will exacerbate the Arab-Israeli conflict and destabilize the situation in the region.
“Jerusalem is the red line for Muslims. Such a decision will be a heavy blow for all mankind”.

He added that if the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel takes place, “in the next 5-10 days, the leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will gather in Istanbul and set in motion the entire Muslim world.”
