Kislyak: resuming the issuance of US visas to Russians is a manifestation of political will

The resumption of interviews for the issuance of visas in a number of American consulates in the Russian regions indicates a change in US policy towards the Russians. This was stated by the former Russian ambassador in Washington, said the first deputy chairman of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the Council of Federation Sergei Kislyak.

“It has been obvious to us that issuing visas to Russian citizens is not a matter of technical possibilities, as the American side said, but manifestations of the corresponding political will. The fact that it appeared speaks of a change in US policy towards Russians and awareness of the need for full-fledged work of the embassy “, he said.

Earlier it was reported that since December 11, US consulates in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok will resume issuing visas to Russian citizens.

On August 21, it became known that the United States is suspending the issuance of nonimmigrant visas throughout Russia from August 23.
