UK as a whole will leave EU customs union

Recently pressure on Theresa May has been intensified, as Northern Ireland threatened to veto UK-EU trade talks until the Irish border issue is settled.

UK government is committed to avoiding building any physical infrastructure at the border with Ireland after the country withdraws from the European Union, according to UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s spokesperson.

The news comes several weeks after UK media reported that Brussels was trying to convince the United Kingdom to grant Northern Ireland a status that would allow it to have its own trade policy and even to remain part of the EU customs union.
