Puigdemont blasts Spanish government in Brussels

Former mayors and Catalan leaders pleaded with the European Union for help in their fight for independence from the Spanish Government during a gathering at an art museum in Brussels on Tuesday.

Former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont joined the speeches towards the end of the conference, equating the Spanish government with ‘Fascism’ and pleading with President of European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and European Parliament President Antonio Tajani to listen to Catalonia’s vote.

Puigdemont and four former ministers are due to appear at a Belgian court on November 17 to hear Spain’s case for their extradition.
