Former US Air Force soldier Devin Kelly fired at a Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. As a result, 26 people were killed and about 20 injured.
Kelly came to church during Sunday service, around 10:30 local time. About 50 persons took part in the service. According to eyewitnesses, it was a young man over 20 years old.
Representatives of the authorities are not ready yet to name the incident as a terrorist act. Kelly was not seen in connections with terrorist groups.
The situation is followed by the President of the United States Donald Trump, who is currently on a visit to Japan. He called the shooting “a diabolic act” and expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased. Trump promised that his administration “will provide full support to the state of Texas and all local authorities investigating this terrible crime.”
To pay tribute to the victims of shooting American flags will be lowered down to November 9 by order of the US president.
