The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued to engage in combat against forces of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), in the embattled city of Deir Ez-Zor, on Thursday. During the fighting, the SAA reportedly made advances on IS territory, taking back the district of Al-Hamidiyah.
