The Russian President’s Special Representative for Syria, Alexander Lavrentyev, said that Syrian leader Bashar Assad supports the launch of the political process in Syria and is ready to discuss constitutional reform.
“The President of Syria made a very important statement on October 26. He reaffirmed his readiness to launch the political process and prepare a new Constitution,” Interfax quotes Lavrentiev as saying at a briefing in Astana, where the seventh round of talks on the Syrian settlement is taking place.
