Montenegro remembered the brutal crackdown of anti-NATO demonstrations

A mass demo was held in Montenegro, dedicated to the second anniversary of the brutal crackdown of the demonstrators, who gathered to protest against the country’s accession to NATO. Then, on October 24, 2015, the police, at the direction of the authorities, used truncheons and tear gas of unacceptable concentration against the protesters.

The procession took place along the route through the points where the most severe attacks had been committed.

“I was attacked three times by members of a special anti-terrorist unit,” editor-in-chief of the local IN4S portal, Goiko Raičević said, “The journalists of our site were attacked and weren’t allowed to do their work.” During the night, the site suffered 10 hacker attacks.”

Since 2015, a wave of protests against the planned accession to NATO hit Montenegro. According to research, more than half of the citizens are against this step of the country’s leadership. Nevertheless, in the spring of this year Montenegro became a member of the alliance.
