The convoy, which consisted of four tanks, five armored vehicles and eight pickup trucks, came under fire when it approached the positions of Jaysh Maghawhir al-Thawra group, situated 13 kilometers away from Al-Tanf.
The militants of Jaysh Maghawir al-Thawra and the coalition use al-Tanf base as a hub to launch attacks against the Syrian troops and the remaining ISIS terrorists. The coalition has previously targeted Syrian units and popular militias that came into vicinity of Al-Tanf, explaining their actions by the need for “self-defense”.
