Shoigu: All troops that participated in the Russian-Belarusian drills “West-2017” were returned to the places of permanent deployment

The goals of joint Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2017” are achieved, the troops are returned to the places of permanent deployment, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said during a conference call on Friday.

“We believe that the goals of the drills have been achieved, I pay special attention to the fact that all the forces and means involved have been returned to the points of permanent deployment,” Shoigu said.

He stressed that during the exercise, the military and public administration bodies received practical experience of joint actions to ensure the military security of the Union State.

“Maneuvers were observed by 95 representatives from 50 countries, 12 700 soldiers, up to 680 weapons and military equipment, about 70 planes and helicopters, 10 ships were involved in the exercise”, the minister said.

According to him, the final results of the drills “West-2017” will be announced in the coming days.
