“Kosovo” refused to join UNESCO

The self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo” will not try to become a member of UNESCO’s international organization, the authorities in Pristina said. The Foreign Ministry said that the “pragmatic decision” to postpone the entry into UNESCO and Interpol was taken in close cooperation with Western partners.

At the same time, Pristina is still considered one of the priority areas of work for joining various international organizations.

After the UN General Assembly, Pristina declared that they had enough votes to join UNESCO. These attempts evoke resentment in Serbia, since it is a question of protecting cultural and religious monuments, which the Kosovars themselves destroyed in the military and post-war years.
