Some 893 injured in clashes during banned referendum in Catalonia

The number of victims on the referendum day in Catalonia increased to 893 people, the health department of the regional government said.

On Sunday, a referendum on independence was held in Catalonia, which Madrid considers illegal and the conduct of which was blocked by the Constitutional Court of the Kingdom. According to the authorities of the region, 90% voted in favor of independence from Spain.

The police said that it managed to take control of most of the 2315 polling stations where voting took place.
