The head of Catalonia thinks, that the European Union “turned away” from the region

The head of the Catalan government Carles Puicdemon accused the EU authorities in “turning away” from the Spanish region, which is in conflict with the central government because of the intention to hold a referendum on independence in Catalonia.

“They are brave when it comes to countries in which they do not have any competencies, but I am a citizen of Europe, where are they when they are so needed?” The Associated Press quotes a politician.

He noted that in the event of a referendum, the people of Catalonia will have the right to “be heard”.

Earlier, the head of Catalonia said about the impossibility of a compromise in the situation with the referendum.

Also, the Spanish Civil Guard, by order of the Supreme Court of Catalonia, blocked more than 140 websites that supported a referendum on the independence of the region.
