Spanish police closed 140 sites for supporting the Catalan referendum

More than 140 Internet sites are blocked by the Spanish Civil Guard for supporting the referendum on Catalonia’s independence, reports EFE outlet.

The blocking of network resources was carried out by order of the Supreme Court of Catalonia. Among these sites is the page of the National Assembly of Catalonia.

Recall, the authorities of Catalonia intend to hold a vote on the independence of the region on October 1. Official Madrid does not recognize the right of the Catalans to a referendum, so, the Constitutional Court of the country imposed a ban on voting.

At the same time, Catalans are supported by residents of other regions of Spain. On September 24, mass actions were held in the country against the ban of the plebiscite.
