Breaking: Explosion on London Underground train

Witnesses have reported a “small scale explosion” in a bag triggering a “panic and stampede” at Tower Hill station on the London Underground.

British Transport Police said: “Incident at Tower Hill station is not suspicious. Fire believed to have been caused by mobile phone charger overheating. @LondonFire.”

There are reports of an “acid smell’ following the blast – with pictures of a flaming object being seen in the carriage.

TFL tweeted: “Severe delays btwn Barking to Earl’s Court due to a fire alert at Tower Hill. Tower Hill station is closed.”
