Moscow called on the West to return Kosovo to Serbia amid Trump’s statement on the sovereignty

The words about the observance of sovereignty from the leader of the state that destroyed the world order and dismembered the former Yugoslavia are full of cynicism, the Head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov believes.

So he commented on the words of the US President at the UN General Assembly on the principles of respect for the sovereignty of countries in the world.

“Calls to respect sovereignty from the president of the state that destroyed the whole world order, frankly, are cynical. Let’s start with Kosovo. Who dismantled the former Yugoslavia? They themselves went to this road and opened Pandora’s box,” Kalashnikov said.

The politician recalled that the United States and its NATO allies violated all available legal norms and UN sanctions, destroying Yugoslavia. As for the parallel with the Crimea, unlike the United States, Russia took into account the opinions of the citizens of the peninsula. It was residents of Crimea who voluntarily took part in the vote and chose to join the Russian Federation, and the region had circumvented the civil war.

“The United States itself has destroyed international law, now they are trying to teach. Cynicism in the highest degree. Bring back Kosovo first!” concluded the head of the committee.
