Surkov about meeting with Volker: It was good and constructive

Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov called his meeting with US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker good and constructive, noting that the parties offered new ideas for the settlement in the southeast of Ukraine and innovative approaches to their implementation.

“It was good and constructive,” Surkov told journalists on Monday after the talks.

“We agreed that the current situation in the southeast of Ukraine can not suit neither the conflicting parties nor external forces contributing to the settlement,” the presidential aide said.

According to him, the discussion was conducted in the tone of mutual respect and interest, without illusions and bias.

Surkov noted that “both sides proposed fresh ideas and innovative approaches to their implementation.”
