Russia’s Permanent Representative to UN Calls for Verification of Data on Western Supplies of Chemical Weapons to Syria

Earlier it became known that shells with prohibited poisonous substances were found in the warehouses of militants near Damascus and in Aleppo.

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, called on the UN Security Council to verify data on supplies of chemical weapons to Syria by the West.

According to him, the information, which was reported by the Syrian Foreign Ministry, speaks about gross violation of international law and the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

However, the UN refused to discuss this issue and the meeting on Syria was closed. It was supposed to present the results of an international investigation into the chemical industry in Syrian Khan Sheikhun.

Earlier it became known that shells with prohibited poisonous substances were found in the warehouses of militants near Damascus and in Aleppo. According to preliminary data, they were manufactured in the British and two American factories.
