Oxford Circus Tube station has been shut down due to an emergency. Local media reports that authorities are currently responding to a fire alert.
The station has been closed while emergency services are responding to the report, the city’s transport authority said. Police said they had been called to the station after reports of a fire alert.
As the news emerged, multiple passengers shared photos and videos from the Oxford Circus underground station.
“We have been called. We are investigating reports of a fire,” a spokeswoman for London Fire Brigade said, as quoted by Reuters. “We are investigating and we are at the scene.” The evacuation forced local shops to lower the shutters.
