Klintsevich: EU is hurrying to keep up with the “big brother” in the US

The expansion of sanctions against Russia because of the situation with Siemens has become a strange decision by the EU, which again will harm the authors themselves, says Russian Senator Franz Klintsevich.

Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Federation Council Franz Klintsevich believes that the EU’s decision to expand sanctions was dictated by the EU’s desire to move in the wake of US policy – at least formally.

The very decision to expand sanctions and the scandalous occasion to it was called strange by Klintsevich. “It seems that the European Union is trying to keep up with the United States, but the willingness to follow the “older brother” is shown only formally,” the senator said.

He added that an inflated scandal with the supply of Siemens turbines to the Crimea would eventually harm Germany itself, since after the scandal the concern is unlikely to be able to count on creating favorable conditions for work in our country.
