Afghanistan: Casualties feared after blast hits NATO convoy in Kandahar

A bomb exploded near an airport in Afghanistan’s Kandahar, Wednesday, as a NATO convoy was passing through, leaving an unconfirmed number of casualties, police sources said.

NATO representatives confirmed there were casualties and victims, however, no death toll was disclosed.

An eye witness described the incident saying that a “suicide attack hit the foreign forces’ convoy, then the smoke rose in the air,” adding that the convoy’s “tanks were burned.”

Security forces increased their presence in the area, with helicopters and armoured vehicles patrolling the vicinity.
