Lebanon: Hezbollah and Lebanese flags hoisted near Syrian border after recapture from militants

Hezbollah and Lebanese Army flags were raised near the town of Arsal on the Syrian-Lebanese border, Sunday, after Hezbollah troops recently recaptured the area from the al-Nusra Front militants.

Hezbollah representatives organised a tour for journalists to the area, presenting the recently captured stronghold with various supplies and equipment of al-Nusra militants left behind.

Speaking outside the captured base, former Lebanese MP Mohammed Obeid criticised the United States for not allowing the Lebanese army “to get to weapons and arms from Russia or even from Iran of any other countries” which would allow them to entirely liberate the area from the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL).
