Istanbul: Mass rally against Israeli actions on the Temple Mount

Thousands of people held a demonstration in Istanbul on Sunday to protest the new security measures taken by the Israeli authorities against the Palestinians on the Temple Mount.

At least 5,000 people took to the streets of the Yenikapa area with the flags of Turkey and the State of Palestine to express solidarity with the victims of the clashes in the vicinity of the complexes of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The organizers of the action were the Turkish traditionalist Prosperity Party.

The situation in Jerusalem sharply deteriorated after July 14, when three armed Palestinians killed two Israeli soldiers on the Temple Mount. After that, the authorities of the Jewish state introduced additional security measures in the area of the Al-Aqsa mosque, including the installation of metal detectors at the entrance to the complex, which led to massive clashes between Palestinians and Israeli order-keepers. Later, the Israeli police dismantled metal detectors and ramps, on which video cameras were installed.
