At least five Afghan police killed in Taliban attack in Helmand

At least five Afghan policemen were killed and three more were injured on Friday night in a Taliban attack in northern Helmand province, officials said.

The incident happened when the insurgents attacked a security check post in Nawa district of the province, the Provincial Governor, Hayatullah Hayat said.

According to the Provincial Governor,  17 Taliban militants were killed and four more were wounded in the clashes.

Taliban did not immediately comment regarding the report.

It comes as Nawa district of Helmand was recently recaptured by the government forces from the Taliban after nine months.
