Rebel fighters in rural Damascus have launched a rocket attack late this night in response to fierce airstrikes conducted yesterday by Russian fighter jets against their positions.
The attack, which was unexpectedly carried out after midnight, hit the Russian Embassy in al-Mazra’a district as well as al-Abasyeen square. No casualties reported.
On Monday, Russian airstrikes destroyed outposts and command centers for the al-Qaeda-affiliate Hay’at Tagrir al-Sham in Irbeen town located to the east of the capital, killing and injuring scores including high-ranking commanders.
Local activists also confirmed that the airstrikes targeted ammunition depots for Faylaq al-Rahman; an Islamist group active in Eastern Ghouta and a close ally for the HTS.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Army troops continue its large-scale operation against the two abovementioned groups in Jobar and Ayn Tarma to the northeast of Damascus.
