143 Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) members and 19 Hezbollah members have been killed in the Hezbollah advane in the Jaroud Arsal area at the Syrian-Lebanese border, according to pro-Hezbollah sources.
The media bureau of Hezbollah Operations Command announced on Monday the liberation of Wadi al-Khayl Valley that had been controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Earlier Hezbollah liberated Wadi al-Owaini and Shubat al-Qala’a.
Following the liberation of a part of Jaroud Arsal controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, Hezbollah will likely focus on the ISIS-held area in the valley.
Hezbollah, backed up by the Syrian Arab Army and the Lebanese Army, launched a large military operation against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and ISIS in Jaroud Arsal at the Syrian-Lebanese border. The goal of the operation is to secure the border area from a terrorist threat.
