Washington is outraged by the publication of the maps with the location of US military bases in Syria. Ankara, of course, makes a helpless gesture, as they say, we are not involved.
Americans do not believe and say that Turkey, as a member of NATO, should not behave that way. The Pentagon believes that the declassification of US bases in Syrian Kurdistan puts the American military under attack and can lead to the disruption of a number of important operations against ISIS.
The map shows 10 US military bases in northern Syria, including 2 airbases. In some cases, the Turks also indicated how many American soldiers are in the garrison.
But business is business. The Americans chose Kurds as their allies and knew how Turkey would react to this. It is expected that ISIS should collapse in the coming months, after which the “Syrian players” will meet face to face. When else should the Turks strike at the US, if not now?!
Let me remind you that yesterday the Americans refused to support the Syrian opposition. Turkey simply did not have any arguments to continue the pro-American line in Syria, from which they retreated from the time of the coup a year ago.
The rapid disappearance of two factions from the Syrian map (ISIS and the pro-American opposition) forces real actors to drop their masks. Israel and the US are already periodically attacking the Syrian government forces. Iran plays a more independent position, promoting the concept of the “Shiite belt”.
The center of attraction is the Deir ez-Zor province, rich in oil. The Turks, as is known, by agreement with the Syrian government stopped their offensive to the south under Al-Bab in the province of Aleppo, but this does not prevent them from trying to brake the offensive of Americans and Kurds in Deir ez-Zor.
Well, it remains to be hoped that the Syrian Arab army will take advantage of a probable hitch in the camp of the Americans and Kurds, and will make every effort for the speedy deblockade of Deir ez-Zor. Any other scenario will lead only to the continuation of the bloodshed.
