Media: Germany’s plans to suspend arms supplies to Turkey

The German government plans to freeze the program of arms supplies to Turkey, the German newspaper Bild reported on Friday referring to sources in the Cabinet.

“We should not only think about Turkey’s export guarantees, but also clearly state that there will not be more of them,” the newspaper quotes the words of the Vice-Speaker of the Bundestag from the Union of 90 / Greens, Claudia Roth.

According to her, supplies must be stopped immediately due to the escalation of military confrontation in the region.

Roth explained that the deterioration of relations between the two countries was not only due to Germany, much more effort to escalate the application of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

On the eve of the Foreign Minister of Germany Zigmar Gabriel said that Berlin intends to consider the introduction of economic restrictive measures against Turkey in connection with the recent arrests of German human rights defenders in the country.
