Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva addressed thousands of his supporters during rally in Sao Paulo, Thursday.
Speaking to the crowd Lula called for Temer’s resignation: “If Temer had the minimum of compromise with the Brazilian people, he would resign and sign a constitutional amendment calling for direct elections by emergency, so the people can chose which man or woman they want to rule the country.”
People gathered in Sao Paulo to protest Lula’s sentencing to nine and a half years in jail. One of his supporters commented on the court decision, calling it an “interruption of Brazilian democracy.”
