Russia: Battle-hardened version of Mi-171Sh helicopter unveiled at MAKS 2017

A modified version of combat transport helicopter Mi-171Sh was unveiled by the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant at the XIII International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2017 in Zhukovski, Wednesday.

SOT, Sergei Migotskiy, Ulan-Ude Aviation plant Chief Designer (Russian): “This is a modification of the Mi-8 AMTSh helicopter, a Mi-171Sh is an export version of it. This helicopter is a prototype model at now, and we’ve tried to show a plenty of a new developments, which are supposed to attract interest from foreign buyers.”

SOT, Sergei Migotskiy, Ulan-Ude Aviation plant Chief Designer (Russian): “Compared to other Mi-8 helicopters, you can see that, there is a big number of aviation weaponry on this helicopter. The ‘Kord’ 12,7 caliber course machine guns, which we are showing for the first time, and the ‘Kord 17-V’ moving gun, operated by shooter on the right side of the helicopter, which are both installed on the aircraft. It’s quite new things that you can see on that machine.”
