Several students were detained after they clashed with security guards and police in a metro station in Sao Paulo, Tuesday, at a protest against Mayor Joao Doria’s proposed increase in student fares for transportation.
The clashes took place when the students reportedly jumped over the turnstiles and headed towards the platforms. Several protesters were injured in the protest, with at least one being taken to hospital as a result.
