Syrian Army intercepts jihadist weapons en route to Raqqa

Syrian government forces stated they captured an armaments cache that was allegedly being smuggled by militants en route to western Raqqa from Idlib province, Sunday.

Footage shows the highway towards Aleppo which reportedly acts as the main artery to the country’s eastern districts.

The establishment of control over at least part of the highway has been a key goal of the Syrian Arab Army in recent years.

Militants sought to impede the actions of Syrian government troops along the route, in order to deprive them of their supply lines during the battle for Aleppo and its suburbs.

Today Syrian troops have reinforced their positions.

They are able to disrupt the attempts of weapons and ammunition smugglers, who reportedly make their deliveries to militants from the border near Idlib through the desert and towards the western areas of Raqqa Province.
