About 1,500 Romanian troops and 100 US soldiers participated in a forced water-crossing in South-Eastern Romania, at the border of Ialomita and Constanta counties, Sunday, as part of NATO’s Saber Guardian 2017 multinational exercise.
In general, more than 25,000 NATO troops are involved in Saber Guardian 2017 drills, as they are simultaneously held on the territories of Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary. They are attended by the military from 22 NATO countries and partner countries of the alliance. The purpose of the large-scale drills is to demonstrate the ability of NATO to deploy its forces operatively in any place and in sufficient volume to neutralize threats.
