The government of Indonesia officially blocked the Telegram messenger, reports Coconuts portal referring to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the country (Menkominfo).
“It’s true, (Telegram was blocked), now we’re preparing an explanation,” said Nur Iza, head of the public relations department at Menkominfo, whose words are cited by Detik‘s news site.
According to the portal, Internet users in Indonesia at noon on Friday began to notice that they can not enter the messenger through the networks of several telecom operators.
Probably, the government of Indonesia blocked the application because the messenger was used to spread information about terrorism, treason and radical ideologies, the portal informs.
