UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura and the delegation of the Syrian government, headed by the country’s Permanent Representative to UN Bashar Jaafari, arrived at the Palais des Nations in Geneva for another session of negotiations, Thursday.
“Today we’re going into much more substance on the political side,” said De Mistura speaking to press upon arrival, ” and we’ll try to think of the idea of incremental progress can contribute to the whole process.”
Jaafari already held two official meetings with De Mistura at the UN offices in Geneva on Monday and Tuesday. Following the Tuesday session, the head of the Syrian government delegation told press that his team had had ‘meaningful discussions’ on the topic of combating terrorism, the fourth basket of the Intra-Syrian talks’ agenda.
