Two American Sherman tanks, which participated in the Second World War, were recovered from the Barents Sea near Kildin Island on Wednesday. It is assumed that both tanks were thrown into the water in 1945.
The operation was conducted within the framework of tactical and special training in underwater operations in the Kildin Island area.
The rescue unit of the Northern Fleet arrived on July 3. Within one and a half weeks deep-water divers in the lighting equipment performed work at a depth of more than 50 meters, facilitated by remotely controlled underwater vehicles.
