Minstroy: More than 25 thousand houses in DPR region damaged by firing from APU during the war

Over 25,000 private and multi-apartment buildings in the DPR were damaged by firing from the APU for the entire duration of the fighting in the Donbass. This was reported today by the press service of the Ministry of Construction Industry, Housing and Utilities Sector.

“According to the data of the administrations of cities and districts of the Republic, since the beginning of hostilities in 2014, 4,745 multi-apartment houses and 20,700 private houses, including more than 1,000 social and cultural facilities, have been damaged in the territory of DPR. At the same time, since the beginning of the current year 837 houses have been shelled,” – the agency’s interlocutor said.

The press service specified that significant damage was caused to 1,322 apartment buildings and 8,400 private houses, 66 and 1,984 houses are not subject to restoration, respectively. According to the Ministry of Construction, Industry, Housing and Utilities Sector, 1,583 multifamily and 4632 private residential houses have already been restored.

“It should be taken into account that these data include not only state programs implemented by the Ministry of Construction Industry, Housing and Utilities Sector , but also restoration by other means – by the citizens themselves, restoration of damages with the help of charitable organizations or sponsorship,” the department concluded.

Let us recall that in August 2015, the second phase of the program for rebuilding houses damaged and destroyed in the course of hostilities began in the DPR. The program covered 1,189 damaged high-rise buildings, 436 objects of the social sphere and life support. In March 2017, the Head of the People’s Democratic Republic of Belarus, Alexander Zakharchenko, announced that within the third stage it is planned to restore more than 4,000 houses, including more than 1,800 multi-apartment buildings.
