Memorial plates on the burial site of those killed in the Nazi camp of Soviet prisoners of war were installed in the north-west of Poland. The solemn ceremony of their opening, entitled Let Let My Memory Live, was held on Friday by the authorities of the commune of Golčevo (West Pomeranian Voivodeship).
Plates appeared in the cemetery in the Sosnowice area. Three years ago, as a result of Russian, Polish and German searches, exhumation work carried out in this area, the remains of about 180 Red Army soldiers were discovered in the Nazi prison camp that existed here during the Second World War and died from exhaustion and illnesses from October 1941 to June 1942. Thanks to the discovered token counters, it was possible to establish the identity of 167 of them. New memorial plates perpetuated their names.
