ISIS sustains heavy losses in Deir Ezzor

The Syrian Army troops, backed up by the country’s Air Force, engaged in heavy fighting with ISIL and managed to repel their offensive in the Southern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city, killing a number of militants, including a Saudi commander.

The army soldiers engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL terrorists that had attacked the pro-government forces’ positions in Panorama base, around Brigade 137 base, near Tal (hill) Borouk and driving training center, warding off the militants’ attack.

In the meantime, the army aircraft pounded ISIL’s movements, positions and supply lines in Panorama, driving training center, the neighborhoods of al-Roshdiyeh, al-Huweiqa, Huweiqa Sakar, old airport, al-Mawared, al-Sina’ah, al-Orfi, Ayyash, al-Hamidiyeh, al-Arzi and al-Maqaber (cemetery) region, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

A military source said that Nazar al-Damami, a Saudi commander of the ISIL, was among the militants killed in the clashes, adding that several positions and a large volume of military hardware were damaged in the failed attack.

The fighter jets also bombed ISIL’s positions in the village of Boqrus in Eastern Deir Ezzur, destroying a large volume of oil refineries elementary equipment that ISIL stole from oil wells in the region.   

Relevant reports said on Friday that the army’s artillery and missile units shelled ISIL’s concentration centers and movements in the Southern and Southwestern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city, killing 11 terrorists and wounding several more.

The artillery and missile units targeted ISIL’s strongholds in al-Tanmiyeh county around Panorama base, killing 11 and wounding a dozen more.

The artillery units, meantime, pounded ISIL’s strongholds near Panorama base, Airport and the village of al-Baqaliyeh and al-Huweiqa neighborhood.
