Kiev, Ukraine. In late breaking news, many will hear that Poroshenko has introduced a bill in parliament to push the Minsk agreements into law, thus pushing Ukraine one step closer to reintegration of the Donbass Republics into the Ukraine. The truth is, the bill is a sick failure on the front end, ignores vast requirements outlined in the agreements and simply sets both sides up for a long, hot summer of further fighting.
The US-backed Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said work on a draft law on reintegrating Donbas, which will include a number of measures-but not all of what he agreed to for the return of the Donbass territories, is in progress, according to the president’s website.
“A bill initiated by me was drafted, titled “On reintegration of occupied territories of the Donbass of Ukraine.” The legislative act encompasses a broad array of measures and steps required for reintegration, for the establishment of a legal regime,” the presidential website quoted Poroshenko as saying.
Experts immediately caught that Poroshenko was dodging, evading and outright lying about the bill being what was agreed to in Minsk. Poroshenko’s law is a motion for denial of reality. It takes the position both the LNR and DNR are not revolts by the citizens, but occupations by “Russian military forces.”
The president said the key position is the reintegration of these territories. Experts and parliament members are involved in drafting the document. In addition, it is based on conditions included in the Minsk agreements, he said.
Sure, its based on some of the conditions, but for example says nothing about section 10 of the Minsk agreement which says, “Pullout of all foreign armed formations, military equipment, and also mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine under OSCE supervision. Disarmament of all illegal groups.”
Under that section every US, Canadian Norwegian or foreign national is REQUIRED to leave the territory of UKRAINE, re-read it, the Minsk agreement says nothing about Donbass only. If they are going, why do they say they will be here through 2020? Poroshenko lied when he signed Minsk originally, and now he lies as he pushes this nonsense about Minsk compliance in the West.
It does not end there. The Poroshenko bill is a truly demented example of saying you will do all, only in reality taking half measures that simply extend the killing and fighting. If this is to be Kiev’s response to MInsk, lies and half measures, it is better everybody stand back and let Donbass properly end, what Kiev has begun. Because Minsk is a long way from the Rada in Kiev, and lost in the translation daily as Donbass is bombed.
