A large-scale meeting was held in support of the referendum on the independence of Catalonia. Voting was demanded not only by ordinary citizens, but also by a number of Spanish political and public figures.
According to the law enforcement bodies of Barcelona, the number of participants in the rally reached 24.5 thousand people. However, according to other data, about 40 thousand citizens took part in the action.
Earlier, the authorities of the autonomous community announced a referendum on the independence of Catalonia to be held on October 1.
