Kabul, Afghanistan. US Department of Defense Special Agents are flying in for an investigation none will like at all. Another 3 US soldiers are going home in rubber bags, after an Afghani soldier cut them down, like weeds in the garden of life.
There were another 3 American soldiers killed and another wounded in eastern Afghanistan over the weekend, the Pentagon announced.
An Afghan official said that the deaths and injury stemmed from an attack by an Afghan soldier, who was shot dead by “American colleagues.”
The US Defense Department in Washington gave no details of the deaths, insisting that the incident was under investigation. “A team of agents will fly to Kabul on a fact finding mission and meet with American assets locally and report to all stakeholders on the robust response to the events and ongoing response to the situation,” reported Elwood Fudd of the US DOD OIG at the Pentagon.
The spokesperson for Nangarhar provincial governor Attahullah Khogyani said the shooting had taken place in the Achin district. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack through spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, who explained that one of its number had infiltrated the Afghan army “just to attack foreign forces.”
Previously another Afghan soldier was killed in March after he opened fire on foreign forces at a base in Helmand province, wounding three US soldiers. NATO is currently putting together a force of an additional 50,000 troops to place in Afghanistan on occupation and pacify detail.
A White House spokesperson, Rav Shah told reporters travelling with Donald Trump in New Jersey, that the US president was “following the emerging situation in Afghanistan with concern and empathy for the Afghani people.”
