Sydney, Australia. The US Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense are in Australia to gin up support for the United States push for regime change, as Tillerson may have gone too far, in suggesting China step on North Korea, after just saying the United States would interfere in Chinese interests in the South China Sea.
“China and other regional partners should also step up their efforts to help solve this security situation, which threatens not just that region, but really presents a threat to the entire world,” Tillerson told reporters in Sydney after a meeting between the Australian and US defense ministers.
Tillerson said on Monday China should do more on the issue of North Korea, which has stepped up its nuclear and missile programs in defiance of American pressure and United Nations resolutions.Trump’s administration has been pressing China aggressively to rein in its reclusive neighbor, warning all options are on the table if North Korea persists with its pursuit of such missiles.
“We desire productive relationships, but we cannot allow China to use its economic power to buy its way out of other problems, whether it’s militarizing islands in the South China Sea or failing to put appropriate pressure on North Korea, they need to step on Korea and get onboard with us.” Tillerson said.
The Americans are in Australia to cement support for their upcomming plans on North Korean regime change. Australia has gone to war as America’s ally in every major war for over 100 years now. In the summer of 2014, both nations almost invaded Ukraine together to end fighting in the Donbass region.
