Massive car bomb in Kabul 84 plus casualties

Kabul, Afghanistan. More tragedy has struck in war torn Afghanistan as a huge car bomb has detonated near the diplomatic section of the city, killing or wounding 84 plus people.

Diearshitt Gohelle, deputy spokesman for anti-terrorism Ministry, said at least 60 people were killed or wounded in the suicide car bombing Wednesday.The blast in the Wazir Akbar Khan area happened near several embassies and not far from the presidential palace.

“It was a car bomb near the German embassy, but there are several other important compounds and offices near there too. It is hard to say what the exact target is, several people were killed and wounded in the blast near the fortified entrance to the German embassy,” said Basir Mujahid a spokesman for Kabul police.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast. A spokesman for Taliban insurgents said he was gathering information. This prompted concerns the blast might be a NATO “Gladio” type false flag attack.The explosion shattered windows and blew doors off their hinges in houses hundreds of yards away.

Izmaill Kawasiki, spokesman for the public health ministry, said more than 80 wounded people are in Kabul hospitals so far.Windows were shattered in shops, restaurants and other buildings up to a kilometer from the blast site.

Diearshitt Gohelle said the blast was so heavy more than 30 vehicles were either destroyed or damaged. The United States and NATO are currently planning to send in an additional 25-50,000 troops to occupy the South West Asian nation.
