Portland, Oregon. The Pacific Northwest of the United States just saw another inncident of domestic terrorism as an American ended up killing more Americans over an encounter with a muslim.
There were two American citizens stabbed to death on an Amtrak train in the north-western US city of Portland, Oregon after attempting to stop a man hurling Islamophobic abuse at two female passengers.The women left the scene before police were able to speak to them.
Portland city Police say the attack happened when a man began shouting abuse at the women, one of whom was wearing a hijab. The crime will be investigated as a hate crime as well as a domestic terrorism incident.An FBI special victims unit is on the way to Portland now.
“In the midst of his ranting and raving, some people approached him and appeared to try to intervene, upset with his behaviour and some of the people that he was yelling at,” said Sergeant Pete Simpson. “They were all attacked viciously.” “It’s horrific,” he added. “There’s no other word to describe what happened today.”
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and another died in hospital, he added. A third victim was taken to hospital but is expected to survive. The suspect in each case, had taken a large, sharp knife and violently slit each victims throat. This type of attack is called “goat-splitting” and if done correctly can be lethal in under 2 minutes, as no medical aid can repair throat arteries once severed.
Evelen Hernandez, who was also aboard the train, told News Front that the stabbing occurred after a group of men attempted to intervene against the verbal abuse.”The attacker was upset with muslims in general and when other Americans seemed to defend them, that is when all hell broke loose.”
The terrorist suspect Jeremy Joseph Christian ran off the train but was arrested a short time later at Portland’s Providence Hospital, police said.Speculation from law enforcement is Christian was intent on finding the survivor and killing them at the hospital.
